Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend after the squad's ten-game winless start to the Premier League campaign.

And both candidates - both of who have previous links to the club - are among the options to be considered by the club ownership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the former Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club directors as they start the search of appointing a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a shock appointment considering he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
