Palestinian-American Youth Released Following 270 Days in Israel's Detention

A American-Palestinian adolescent after completing a nine-month period in imprisonment by Israel without being charged gained freedom.
The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention in February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, during a family visit from his Florida home under suspicion of rock throwing at Jewish settlers, which he previously denied.
United States authorities expressed satisfaction with the news of Mohammed's release.
Now sixteen years old, needed medical care for treatment immediately after release, relatives told the media.
They said he is pale, underweight, while battling health issues developed during imprisonment.
In a statement, Mohammed's uncle spoke of the family's "immense relief".
Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" during the entire detention period.
"Right now, we are focused on providing Mohammed with prompt healthcare necessary for his recovery following exposure to Israel's abuse and inhumane conditions for months."
US officials said it would continue to extend consular services to the teenager's relatives.
{"American leadership has no higher priority than the safety and security of American nationals"," officials stated.
Several congressional representatives submitted a formal letter to the state department and the administration, urging greater action to secure his release.
The father, with four children who runs an ice cream business from Florida, previously claimed his son only confessed regarding stone throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.
There were no visits or communicated with his son since the arrest, receiving updates exclusively what had happened to him via legal paperwork.
Mohammed was held lacking indictment within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.
It is also home to mature inmates, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations including killings.
Approximately 350 Palestinian child security detainees being held in Israeli jails, based on prison authority data.
Several lack formal charges while advocacy organizations, including UN bodies, document cases involving mistreatment and torture.
Subsequent to his liberation, family representatives announced the family would also continue fighting seeking justice for their relative Sayfollah Musallet.

Both young men collaborated in the family ice cream shop in Tampa, Florida.
